A child sex offender with an “appalling history” who was found with an illegal phone which he’d used to download TikTok on to was sentenced to prison on Friday.

Robert John Bingham appeared in Mandurah Magistrates Court via videolink from Hakea Prison after pleading guilty to stealing, fraud, possessing stolen property, driving a car with false plates, and two counts of failing to comply with reporting obligations.

Bingham has been a registered sex offender since 2016 for offences against children.

Police prosecutor Constable Luke Ford told the court police found a phone in Bingham’s possession when he was arrested in relation to other offences in June.
