DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Charges were dismissed Monday against the four protestors affiliated with North Carolina Central University who took part in a demonstration on campus earlier this year, court records show.
Students said the protest on April 16 was prompted by campus living conditions, such as mold and air conditioners not working properly in residence halls.
According to university officials, the protest was not authorized. They said it was attended by people not affiliated with NCCU, but acknowledged four people arrested had university ties: history professor Daniel Cole Atwood and students Jose Andres Estrella, Moriah Alexis Flowers, and Makaila Nicole Tinsley.
Court records show Tinsley was charged with felony offense of assault with physical injury on a law enforcement officer
