KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri's new attorney general was in Kansas City on Tuesday to meet with police.

Republican Catherine Hanaway spoke to the Board of Police Commissioners (BOPC) at their monthly meeting Tuesday. It's the first time in at least the past 15 years that an attorney general has come to a BOPC meeting, Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) Public Information Officer Alayna Gonzalez told FOX4.

Hanaway said fighting crime is her number one priority. She named a couple things her office can work on to make sure crime numbers move in the right direction.

"Obviously we can loan talent to the prosecutor's office to help with the case burden," she said. "We can take some cases on."
