MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — While most of its main crime categories held steady last year, West Virginia University Police has reported an increase of burglaries, domestic violence incidents and stalking cases on its campus.
The WVU Police Department released its latest Clery Act Report for 2024 on Tuesday morning, which showed the following changes in crime rates over a one-year period: • Burglaries increased from 10 in 2023 to 25 in 2024. • Domestic violence cases went up from 24 in 2023 to 32 in 2024. • Cases of stalking increased from 24 in 2023 to 42 in 2024.
WVU Police Chief Sherry St. Clair said most reported incidents of stalking stemmed from unwanted contact following a break-up or other relationship issue.
