ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - In just two days, Dorian Merriweather’s life was turned upside down.
The pregnant mother of two says a tree came crashing down on her rental home in Berkeley on Sunday, destroying nearly everything her family owned.
“They lost all of their belongings,” First Alert 4 originally reported.
Vinebrook Homes, the property management company, offered Merriweather a new place to live, we learned on Tuesday. But she says she didn’t know the difference between the company’s required damage waiver fee and actual renters insurance — a distinction that left her family unprotected.
“If I would have known, I wouldn’t have been paying it, not only that, I would have gotten renters’ insurance myself to cover our belongings, we have nice things,” Merriweather said on Mon
