It is alleged that a man hurled antisemitic abuse alongside the food waste at the 77-year-old religious leader as he left Boots on the Broadway on the morning of September 18.

The incident was reported to the Shomrim, a volunteer organisation that works with the police to protect Jewish communities, and passed on to the Met Police.

A 41-year-old man was arrested on Monday (September 22) on suspicion of committing a religiously aggravated public order offence.

He remains in custody.

Shomrim reported that the incident left the alleged victim “shaken and traumatised”.
