(Undated)- Local officials are watching an approaching front that is expected to bring a risk of strong to severe storms to North Georgia on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed the extreme corner of Northwest Georgia under a marginal risk (level 1/5) for severe storms on Wednesday, with a more widespread area under the same risk level on Thursday.

Widespread storms are expected to develop in a very unstable airmass ahead of an approaching front. These storms will come during each afternoon and into the early overnight hours, with the biggest severe risk coming from 2-8 PM each day. The main risk from these storms will be gusty winds up to 60MPH. Small hail up to pea or dime size is also possible, and no tornado threat is expected.
