A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a woman was found dead in an East Ayrshire property.

Samuel Kelly appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court today charged in connection with the death of Michelle Thomson, 47, who was found injured within a property in the Newmilns area on Tuesday, September 23.

Kelly, 26, from East Ayrshire, was charged with murder.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody. He will next appear in court within the next eight days.

Emergency services rushed to the Main Street area of Newmilns at around 12.20pm on Tuesday, September 23, to reports of a woman injured within a property.

Sadly she was pronounced dead at the scene. Police yesterday confirmed the woman was Michelle Thomson with her next of kin being made aware.
