SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Recent dry weather in eastern KELOLAND is leading to changes on the weekly drought monitor update. Meteorologist Brian Karstens takes a closer look at the latest changes.

September will end on a dry note across KELOLAND. For those with all the rain in central KELOLAND, that's fine. But for the southeast, a dry end to summer is continuing into the first full week of fall.

The contrast in rainfall across KELOLAND has been significant.

Take a look at the 30-day rainfall trend map. Record or near-record rainfall has fallen in central and north-central South Dakota, with amounts of 5 to 7 inches very common.
