SHELBYVILLE, Ky. —

Two Republican congressmen-turned-allies have joined forces as part of a re-election bid for Rep. Thomas Massie.

"Why are we having a campaign rally in September for an election that is 14 months from now? I'll tell you why: because nobody has ever spent $2.5 million against a congressman this early in a race," said Rep. Massie.

Congressman Massie’s head start on the campaign trail continued Thursday in Shelby County.

It marked the ninth rally alongside Sen. Rand Paul, which comes as President Donald Trump pushes to unseat Massie.

"I've never disparaged him, but when I disagree with the policy, I'm going to vote for what's best for these folks in Kentucky," Massie said.
