PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Families with infants who are in the neonatal intensive care unit have a new way to connect with their baby, even if they can't be at bedside.

A new program at OSF HealthCare Children`s Hospital of Illinois called vCreate NICU Diaries offers daily video updates and messages, providing reassurance and a sense of closeness during their infant`s stay.

For new parents Breanna Besimi and Jaylon Walden, it's comforting.

"We are so thankful that when we're not here, we can get photos and videos of him and kind of how he's doing and get updates and just actually be able to visually see him when we can't be at the bedside," Besimi said. "It's been really exciting. We got a picture of him getting his first tub bath the other night.
