NORTH CAROLINA (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- If you are intentional about where you stand, parts of Chimney Rock are like they always were.
But look around, you’ll see the small reminders of Helene…cobwebs draped over boarded-up windows, vines peeking through cracks of foundations, and a downtown once fit for a postcard, turned into a construction zone.
"This place is very hard to work because there's power lines, buildings, cars. Pretty much, you name it, and we've got it going on here,” Jake Jarvis said.
While the sound of dust and machinery overwhelms Chimney Rock’s Main Street, so does the need to help.
"I remember I was teared up, but I told the guys to unload the machine and grab the saws and let's get to work,” Jarvis, the owner of Precision Grading and Disaster Relief, said.
