CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) - Canfield's Ursuline Motherhouse has been serving the Ursuline Sisters since the early 1960s. But with fewer sisters, they've decided to turn the motherhouse into an assisted living center.
Sister Mary McCormick is General Superior of the Ursuline sisters, many of whom lived or worked inside every window of the motherhouse in Canfield. In the early 1960s, there were 170 Ursuline Sisters.
"But now there are 25 of us and our median age is about 82," Sister Mary said.
With reality setting in, the decision was made to spend $6 million to turn much of the Ursuline Motherhouse into an assisted living center. Both floors of one side will be the new assisted living area.
