For the moment, Mayor Monroe Nichols isn’t saying whether he intends to ask city councilors to call an election to raise more money for city operations through a sales tax increase or the issuance of general obligation bonds.
He’s not talking, in part, because he wants to do more listening. On Wednesday, he’ll launch a second series of community conversations on a wide array of challenges facing the city.
Five meetings, multiple topics: public safety, alternative response and mental health; essential and daily services; children, youth and family outcomes; homelessness and housing; and neighborhood conditions/vitality.
The mayor is not expected to present any funding proposals at the meetings, but they are meant to inform his decision-making proce
