GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - People in and around Railside got a chance to enjoy German culture at the Liederkranz for their annual Oktoberfest on Saturday.
The event featured traditional German brews, German sausages, German folk songs and games throughout the day.
One of the volunteers for the event, Tom Ziller said celebrating Oktoberfest is important because the culture goes back to Grand Island’s roots.
“Oktoberfest has been a long time tradition in German heritage,” Ziller said. “The Liederkranz was established actually before Grand Island was established by the German settlers in Hall County and so we’re just carrying on that tradition.“
Organizer and Club Manager, Amber Greenwalt said the event is also important in bringing people together for fun.
