Sonam Wangchuk's wife Geetanjali Angmo

Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali Angmo, shared two photos on social media on Monday. Both feature Bangladesh’s advisor Muhammad Yunus—one with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the other with Wangchuk.

Gitanjali wrote on X: “If it’s okay for the Hon. PM to meet Md Yunus, why is it a problem when Sonam Wangchuk, India’s educator and innovator meet him?” She was responding to rumours circulating on social media. Wangchuk had been accused of conspiring with those plotting to overthrow Sheikh Hasina’s government in Bangladesh.

Similarly, in a post on X on Sunday, Gitanjali questioned, "If India can play cricket with Pakistan, why can’t one of its heroes, Sonam Wangchuk, attend a UN conference there?"
