CLEVELAND, Ohio – A 10-year-old Akron boy was wounded in the face Sunday, and police are investigating how the incident happened.

Police said the shooting occurred about 12:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Palmetto Avenue. Afterward, the boy left the area and walked less than two blocks to the Akron fire station on Brown Street.

Paramedics treated the youth before taking him to Akron Children’s Hospital. Officers found a gun where the shooting happened, and detectives are seeking to determine what took place, including the possibility that the child accidentally shot himself.
