National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, colloquially known as Orange Shirt Day, is observed on Sept. 30, and Calgary has a variety of memorial events planned.

Reconciliation Bridge and Centre Street Bridge will be illuminated orange in honour of the holiday and as part of Calgary Culture Days, which highlights local events while honouring Orange Shirt Day.

Additionally, flags on City of Calgary buildings will be lowered to half-mast.

While Sept. 30 is not a statutory holiday in Alberta, some employers may voluntarily observe the day.

Those using transit on Monday may need to adjust their plans, as buses, CTrains and On Demand will be operating on Saturday levels of service.
