Framingham-based TJX is planning to close a high-profile TJ Maxx store in Boston early in 2026.

The company notified the state of plans to lay off 117 employees in Boston, effective on Jan. 5.

In a statement, TJX confirmed the store at 360 Newbury St. is expected to close by Jan. 3.

"We are always assessing and reviewing our real estate strategies, and our decision to close this store reflects that thinking," a TJX spokesperson wrote in a statement. "The Boston area has been the home for our headquarters for nearly 50 years and continues to be a very important market for us.
