For the second council meeting in a row the City of Surrey's engineering department is recommending a contract award related to Surrey's district energy distribution piping system expansion. This latest one is $5,196,620.10 for Clearway Construction Inc. with a spending limit set at $5,720,000.
This contract up for council's vote tonight involves the installation of 950 metres of insulated steel pipe, service connections, a leak detection system and communication conduit at seven sites downtown. If approved, the contract permits construction from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday and will include some short road closures, with work starting in October and expected to be completed by Fall 2026.
