PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Moderate to severe drought conditions are showing up across the U.S., including Central Illinois.
The area is experiencing a moderate drought, and although summer produced a good amount of rain over the last month, moisture conditions have dropped like a rock throughout Central Illinois.
Peoria County Farm Bureau Manager Charlie Hensley said the fall harvest started about a month ago, so farmers can still expect to see a good yield and production come out of this crop, despite the drought.
“Farmers are going to be ok. The main thing right now is that we are in the middle of harvest. A lot of that crop that’s in the field now is not going away if farmers can get into the field in a timely manner,” said Hensley.
