LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Shepherdsville Mayor Jose Cubero is working to bring awareness to his culture while improving the city he calls home.
Cubero is the first bilingual mayor of the city. He grew up in a military family, traveling the world learning different cultures while embracing his Puerto Rican and German heritage.
His family was stationed in Fort Knox in the late 1960s and grew up in the area. He’s a North Hardin graduate where he played baseball and eventually got a scholarship to play for Bellarmine University.
Cubero has worn many hats including working in the restaurant and produce business for 25 years.
“About four years ago, I decided I want to be mayor,” he said. “I wanted to really work in our community.”
