HUNTINGTON — Marshall University football enters its open week after a 54-51 loss to Louisiana on Saturday in double overtime.
The Thundering Herd led by as many as 17 points in the third quarter before the Ragin’ Cajuns saw their backup quarterback, Lunch Winfield, rattle off 21 points in the fourth to tie, and eventually win on a walk-off touchdown.
The Thundering Herd finished with 258 yards and three touchdowns from quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson, 138 yards and two touchdowns from running back Michael Allen on 19 carries, and 146 receiving yards on 10 catches with a pair of touchdowns from Floyd Lacey.
The offense carried over its production from Middle Tennessee, but the defense wasn’t able to close for the win.
