HOUSTON (KIAH) — According to information obtained from the official Starbucks website, it has been confirmed that a minimum of five Starbucks locations within the Houston-area were permanently closed as of the end of the most recent weekend.
On Thursday, the Seattle-based company announced it’s closing hundreds of stores in the U.S., Canada and Europe and laying off 900 nonretail employees to focus on its 'Back to Starbucks' initiative.
The company didnt give a for sure number of Houston-area locations closing indefinitely, but the bulk of stores appear to be in the U.S. according to data. Starbucks is expected to have fewer than 18,300 stores, compared to the 18,700+ in June.
