ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – The Rochester Fire Department responded to a house fire on West Avenue in Rochester on Tuesday morning.
According to RFD Lieutenant Jackie Sierra on scene, the department was called to the residence following a report of smoke coming from it.
Firefighters arrived with initial reports that three elderly people were inside and proceeded to search the home. It was soon determined that no people were inside, and responders removed three dogs.
The dogs were claimed by a family member who later arrived on the scene.
The Rochester Police Department, AMR Ambulance, and Rochester Animal Services also responded to the residence.
The fire was reportedly contained to the first floor.
Fire investigators are now investigating the cause of the fire.
