EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- EDF power solutions and the El Paso Electric hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday to mark the commercial operation of the Milagro Solar + Storage project.

The project, which is a solar-plus-storage facility located in the Santa Teresa area of Doña Ana County, achieved commercial operation on September 11, according to a news release from El Paso Electric.

El Paso Electric said the project is designed to provide clean energy and price stability for the region.

"This project is 150 megawatts of solar paired with 75 megawatts of storage and is designed to charge batteries while the sun is shining and dispatch the batteries later when the energy is needed on the grid," Kate O'Hair, senior vice president of onshore development for EDF power solutions, said.
