ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Crews with DeKalb County Fire Rescue found a man’s body in a pond while searching for a missing person Tuesday.

A spokesperson with the fire department said a concerned family member requested a welfare check on a person just after 7:30 p.m. Monday.

The family member told DeKalb Fire the missing person often fished in a pond near Clifton Springs Road in unincorporated Decatur.

Crews began searching the pond Monday night and resumed at daybreak Tuesday, after which they found a man’s body in the water.

The body, which has not been identified as the missing person, has been turned over to the county medical examiner, according to the fire department.
