ASCENSION PARISH, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police have declined to release anything but very basic details about Tuesday morning’s deadly shooting involving a trooper in Ascension Parish.

The shooting happened just before 2 a.m. on LA Highway 431 and Hwy 935, not far from St. Amant High School.

In the past, the Louisiana State Police have typically released preliminary details on such incidents within a matter of hours. However, late Tuesday afternoon, more than 13 hours after the shooting, State Police Trooper Shelby Mayfield, the Troop A spokesperson, said no new information was available.
