WAIKIKI, Hawaii (Island News) -- The man wanted for a robbery at the First Hawaiian Bank Waikiki branch involving the use of a substance likely to be pepper spray turned himself in to police.

Police officers responded to the bank robbery on Sept. 29, 2025 where the suspect, a 66-year-old man, allegedly sprayed a substance which harmed multiple employees.

Preliminary field tests indicated that it was oleoresin capsicum, commonly known as pepper spray, and the substance caused employees to experience irritation and they received medical attention soon after.

The suspect turned himself in on Sept. 30 at the Kapolei Federal Building. He was arrested for robbery.

An investigation into this robbery and use of noxious substance case remains ongoing.
