Imelda will head further out to sea Wednesday, allowing the clouds to finally break a bit Wednesday afternoon. Building high pressure will bring a string of nice days leading into the weekend.
The beaches will continue to see wind gusts 30-40 mph Wednesday with relaxing winds late week. Big surf, isolated coastal overwash, beach erosion and dangerous rip currents are likely through Thursday.
Skies will return to mostly sunny Thursday afternoon and stay that way through the weekend with highs in the low to mid 70s Thursday and Friday and cool overnight in the mid 50s as drier air overspreads eastern NC. Weekend highs will peak near 80°.
