The collapse of Bonnie Lattimore’s Buxton beachfront cottage is a cautionary tale

Bonnie Lattimore’s beachfront cottage in Buxton fell into the ocean on Sept. 16. It was a small home, less than 1,000 square feet. Built by her grandfather a half century ago, when it was finished, the ocean was still “football field of upon football fields from our house.”
“We would run through little paths to get to the beach, dunes and dunes and dunes,” Lattimore told the Voice. “This isn’t a mansion. This is a family cottage that my grandpa built in 1976…To my family, because of the memories…it’s a family heirloom.”
