NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) - Connecticut leaders and foodies flocked to New Haven on Wednesday to celebrate the state’s brand-new Connecticut Pizza Trail.

Modern Apizza earned the coveted first stop on the trail by winning a fan vote.

Employees marked the occasion by hosting an epic pizza party.

The trail features 100 restaurants throughout the state.

Connecticut’s chief marketing officer Anthony Anthony said people will come from far and wide to sample a slice in the state.

“This is about Connecticut pizza,” Anthony said. “As a whole, we make the best damn pizza in the country, and I want everyone to try it and enjoy it.”

Connecticut pizza brings in around $600 million in sales every year.
