NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The jury trial for Joshua Rocha has been delayed 24 hours.

On Wednesday, Oct. 1, the prosecution and defense teams were scheduled to give closing arguments in the first phase of Joshua Rocha’s jury trial.

Following the unexpected and sudden death of a defense attorney’s family member, the closing arguments have been postponed to Thursday, Oct. 2.

Initially, Rocha’s attorney asked the judge for a mistrial or continuance. The judge denied that request. Had continuance been accepted, the trial could have been postponed even further.

Right now, the jury is in Phase One of the trial, deciding whether or not Rocha is guilty of murder in the first degree.
