ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A string of smashed windows left a big mess for several businesses along busy Ponce de Leon Avenue in northeast Atlanta overnight.

At least five businesses were hit, all within about a quarter-mile of each other, according to Atlanta police.

One of the hardest hit was the Chick-fil-A on Ponce, between Boulevard and Kennesaw Avenue. Its front doors were busted after what appeared to be several attempts to break in.

Across the street, Ameris Bank’s front doors were shattered, and its drive-up window was also damaged.

“It’s crazy. I think we were the only store that wasn’t hit,” said a shop worker next door. “Maybe it’s because we have bars on our windows.”
