Suspected shooter near Eastern State Hospital died of suicide, identified by medical examiner

MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. -- A man investigators say shot and killed an Eastern State Hospital employee died of suicide.

According to the Spokane County Medical Examiner, 24-year-old Sethaniel Bunch shot himself in the head at the end of a suspected crime spree in Medical Lake Saturday.

Just after midnight September 27, a brush fire broke out near Medical Lake High School.

An hour later, a break in and gunshots were reported at a home near W. Idaho Street and S. Lake Drive. No one was hurt.

Deputies then heard gunshots across the lake and found 57-year-old Colleen Hendrickson Bass, an Eastern State Hospital employee, shot and killed. The medical examiner determined Bass died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Deputies located Bunch and suspected him of being involved in all three incidents.
