BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- Dr. Joyce Turner Keller is opening her home to provide HIV testing, food, and hope for others living with the virus.

Living with HIV herself, Keller is working to break the stigma that often keeps people from seeking help.

"I started trying to have offices in different places, and I found that people weren't coming as readily often as I thought they should. I realized that was due to the fact that they were embarrassed, afraid of losing their anonymity, and the stigma that was attached to HIV, even getting a test caused people to withdraw," she said.

Keller's mission goes beyond meals and testing. She wants faith communities to see HIV as a condition, not a condemnation.
