The rising popularity of electric bicycles, or e-bikes, is also leading to a rise in concerns over safety across Massachusetts.

In Milford, police reported three accidents involving e-bikes just this week. That's more than the town typically sees in an entire month, according to Police Chief Robert Tusino.

He said that many of the riders involved are teenagers who either don't know the rules of the road or choose to ignore them.

"At 14 years old, who knows the traffic rules and regulations? Nobody," Tusino said. Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn filed an ordinance to restrict mopeds and e-bikes from third-party food delivery.
