GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - State law now gives Greenville’s Camping World store the green light to keep flying its massive American flag.
House Bill 926, a regulatory bill that includes a provision that will prevent local governments from restricting the size of official government flags on private property, became a law today without Governor Josh Stein’s signature.
The City of Greenville filed a lawsuit against Camping World in June, saying that the flag on their property is nearly 15 times the allowable size on a non-residential property and violates city code.
Camping World owed more than $37,000 in fines as of last week.
However, the law says any pending fines or litigation would be dropped once in effect.
As of 10 a.m. today, the city’s lawsuit was still active.
