A Glasgow volunteer security guard has told how he came face-to-face with the man who attacked worshippers at a Manchester synagogue.

Ivor Rosenberg, who went to Queens Park Secondary School, was helping protect Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogueon Thursday, October 2, when he confronted the suspect, reports the Record . The 78-year-old told how a volunteer had warned him about a "suspicious-looking man" lurking near the building as they prepared for Yom Kippur prayers.

He told Sky News that when he looked, he saw the man "gazing into the synagogue". He recalled: "There was a fence between us and I said, 'What are you doing?' and he said, 'I'm looking for my car.' He appeared to be up to no good, so we told him to leave."
