KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City's streetcar extension aims to connect evolving Midtown neighborhoods between Union Station to the Country Club Plaza.

The 3.5-mile southern streetcar plans an Oct. 24 grand opening after more than eight years of elections, planning, fundraising and construction. It underlines a new chapter for the streetcar system and a $351.7 million investment in a transit-oriented future for Kansas City.

These are nine projects that together are bringing hundreds of new apartments, commercial uses and attractions along or near the extension.
