KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Goodwill of Western Missouri and Eastern Kansas will tear down an East Crossroads building that housed its local headquarters for almost 100 years.

Kansas City's Historic Preservation Office on Tuesday agreed that MoKan Goodwill can pursue demolition of its four-story building at 1817 Campbell St. The vacant office and warehouse building was completed in 1923 for Goodwill Industries, with prominent signage visible off U.S. Highway 71 to its east. Through its demolition review process, the city found the metal-sided building does not retain integrity for a historic listing due to numerous alterations over the years.
