ST. LOUIS COUNTY — Four people died when a vehicle going the wrong way on Interstate 170 collided with an SUV Monday afternoon in north St. Louis County, the Missouri Highway Patrol said.

Two men and a woman in the SUV died at the scene while the wrong-way driver, a man, died at a hospital, said Cpl. Dallas Thompson of the patrol.

Thompson said the crash took place shortly before 2 p.m. between Natural Bridge Road and St. Charles Rock Road. Thompson said the wrong-way driver was headed southbound in the northbound lanes of 170.

Two other vehicles also were involved, he said, but they had relatively minor damage and no one in them was injured.
