WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - If you think the foliage just isn’t as vibrant as usual, experts say you’re right. They say the drought is mostly to blame.
Vermont is known for its vibrant fall foliage, but this year it’s a bit dull in some parts.
Camille and Winston Bain of Maryland are visiting for the first time.
“The colors aren’t as bright as we thought they would be. It’s showing up a little bit, but it’s sporadic, is the best way to put it,” Winston said.
“You see little pops every now and then, but it’s not as consistently bright as I thought it would be,” Camille said.
Experts say the severe drought caused foliage to peak earlier than usual.
Vermont State Forest Health Manager Josh Halman says even though foliage can be unpredictable, this is uncommon.
