SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Police say early Sunday morning just before 1:30am, officers responded to the Miami Hills apartment complex in South Bend on the report of a shooting.
As officers they arrived, they were told a four-year-old was taken to the hospital for what police say are calling an ‘apparent gunshot wound’.
Police said the child had non-life-threatening injuries. ABC57 spoke to the child’s mother today at the complex, who did not want to go on camera.
She says other a little bit of pain she said, ‘she's the same little girl as before’
Police say a preliminary investigation shows the child was hit by the ‘apparent gunfire’ from outside the apartment while she was inside.
The child’s mother says she was in bed and her daughter was spending time with family and other ne
