ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — The voting period for Elizabeth City's municipal elections begins Tuesday, with voters set to decide on key local races, including the mayor’s office and city council seats.

The mayoral race is a three-way, nonpartisan contest featuring incumbent Mayor Kirk Rivers, Christina Williams, and Jamie Noble.

Mayor Rivers, who was elected in 2022 with over 50% of the vote, is seeking re-election and encourages all residents to participate, regardless of political affiliation.

“We need to make sure that our voices are heard, and how do you let your voice be heard? By voting, and that’s what we have to continue to do,” said Rivers.
