ILLINOIS ( 25News Now ) - The Illinois Manufacturers’ Association said some members are seeing higher metal prices due to the tariffs, making equipment more expensive to buy.

A number of companies have also slowed investments in infrastructure to wait and see how tariffs play out.

Mark Denzler, the president of IMA, said that despite the rising costs, some manufacturers support tariffs, but he added that the Ag industry is suffering the most from it.

“We’d see American farmers lose some of their market share after the first round of tariffs. You have farmers who are facing higher input costs. We’ve also seen that China’s not buying soybeans right now, and so all of those are squeezing American farmers, who then may choose not to buy new farm equipment, which then has an impact on manu
