LANCASTER, Ohio — A 9-year-old child has died days after being shot inside a home in Lancaster, according to Lt. Chuck Sims.
The Lancaster Police Department said they received a 911 call on Oct. 6 about a child being shot in the 400 block of Summitview Drive around 5:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found the child and another juvenile who was not injured. A gun was located at the scene, police said.
The child was airlifted to a Columbus hospital with life-threatening injuries. Sims confirmed to 10TV on Sunday that the child later died.
Police did not clarify what led up to the shooting.
The shooting remains under investigation.
