Thousands of mourners expected to attend Mormon church president's funeral 28 mins ago A funeral service is set in Salt Lake City for Russell M. Nelson, the charismatic sentimentalist who oversaw a significant temple boom as president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He died in late September at age 101. Church spokesman Doug Andersen says nearly 20,000 tickets quickly were claimed for his funeral service. The Tuesday service will be broadcast globally and feature tributes and music by the Tabernacle Choir. Andersen says the funeral will showcase Nelson's life and legacy. The burial service will be held at Pioneer Cemetery but will not be open to the public.
