US President Donald Trump has mocked Greta Thunberg after she was detained and deported by Israeli soldiers during the Global Sumud Flotilla initiative.

Ms Thunberg was greeted by fans when she arrived in Greece following the deportation, but Mr Trump said she should instead see "a doctor."

The Global Sumud Flotilla, a convoy of boats bound for Gaza, aimed to deliver humanitarian aid and building materials while challenging Israel’s long-standing naval blockade.

The flotilla was told by the Israeli Defence Forces to redirect aid to Ashdod for security inspection, but Ms Thunberg and organisers refused - insisting on heading directly to Gaza.

This defiance prompted Israel to intercept the vessels and detain all on board, before deporting crew members back to their home countries.
