A surfer has survived a terrifying shark attack off Kangaroo Island, managing to drive himself to hospital after being bitten twice on the leg.
The man, believed to be in his 50s, was surfing at D’Estrees Bay, a renowned tourist and surfing spot on South Australia’s southern coast, when the attack occurred shortly after 1pm on Tuesday.
Despite suffering two serious leg wounds, the victim managed to make his way back to shore, reach his car, and drive himself to hospital for urgent medical attention.
He is understood to be preparing for emergency surgery but his injuries are not life-threatening, according to South Australian Police.
